UMBRIA CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

FINALITA’:

in considerazione della carenza di stimoli, luoghi e opportunità ludico-formative per l’infanzia, sia residenziale che in visita turistica, nel territorio del comprensorio di Assisi si propone di realizzare uno spazio ludico e di apprendimento per bambini da 2 a 12 anni, un luogo all’interno del quale i bambini possano apprendere giocando fornendo loro stimoli alternativi a quelli proposti dalla televisione e dei videogiochi.

Un luogo che favorisca l’incontro, che promuova l’interazione positiva fra genitori e figli e, ove siano coinvolgibili gli adulti: dai nonni agli insegnanti.

Ubicazione

UMBRIA Children’s musEUm (UCM) potrebbe esser ubicato nei locali annessi alla stazione ferroviaria di Assisi, inutilizzati ormai dai molti anni, dopo il restauro fatto nel post terremoto.

Le ragioni che motivano tale scelta sono le seguenti:

· i locali della stazione sono solo minimamente utilizzati nonostante i lavori di restauro e ripristino, all’interno della stazione stessa non è presente una biglietteria funzionante con personale ne un deposito bagagli e tanto meno un ufficio informazioni.ciò si configura come una grave mancanza soprattutto in una realtà come quella di Assisi a grande vocazione turistica. All’interno del progetto del museo i promotori hanno anche prevedono la creazione di un point che fornisca servizi ai viaggiatori di Trenitalia;

· la posizione garantirebbe al museo una facile raggiungibilità, sia via treno per coloro che provengono da fuori (gite, gruppi, famiglie),la presenza dell’ ampio parcheggio lo renderebbe fruibile e “comodo” per che utilizza l’ automobile e non ultimo facilmente raggiungibile anche in bicicletta per coloro che provengono dalle frazioni limitrofe.

· l’uso del treno e della bicicletta arricchirebbe l’ esperienza della visita al museo di un significato ambientale che inizierebbe ancor prima di varcare le porte del museo.

CONNOTAZIONI

L’ UCM vorrebbe connotarsi, tramite l’offerta di attività ludiche - giochi e giocattoli – della tradizione e delle vaie culture, anche come punto d’incontro e officina per lo scambio di idee promotrici di integrazione culturale positiva e costruttiva per tutti, nel pieno rispetto delle identità di ciascuno.

Un luogo all’ interno del quale i bambini possano muoversi in sicurezza, ricevendo stimoli e trovando materiali che promuovano la curiosità e l’interesse, secondo la teoria del “learning by doing”, comune a tutte le strutture di questo genere, presenti ormai in molte città del mondo.

FATTIBILITA’

L’UCM dovrebbe essere il risultato di interazione fra soci privati, le istituzioni del territorio e il mondo dell’imprese e dei servizi; i privati potrebbero contribuire con donazioni ricevendo un riconoscimento certificato.

MISSION: To build a sustainable non profit Children’s Museum filled with evolving interactive learning activities accessible to all children

THE NEED: There is a need to expose the children to new experiences outside the world of television, video games, commercial toys and mindless amusement parks. Parents, teachers, students and very young toddlers in the area are limited to expensive, seasonal, low quality gimmicky venues that offer very little to enrich the lives of the children.

Children should be inspired, challenged and enriched. The community needs a place to gather to exchange ideas and learn about the world.



THE SOLUTION:


OVERVIEW:
PROPOSED LOCATION: ASSISI TRAIN STATION: There is an existing building vacant since completion over a decade ago. While the initial design of the station suggests a more robust usage, the opening of any activity in this location has proven to be economically unworkable. In shopping centers, there is normally a large branded anchor tenant that brings in the traffic. Likewise, a Children’s Museum along with its ancillary support activities could serve to bring traffic into this location.

PHYSICAL LOCATION: The “Assisi” station is located in the center of Umbria in the town of Santa Maria. Visitors without a car can easily use Trenitalia from all directions. Hundreds of schools will find it economical and easy to plan field trips to this museum without the cost of hiring bus services. Those who come by car have access to ample parking in a new and lightly unused pay parking lot about 100M from the station. The location is central to many small neighbouring communities that provide leisurely access by bicycle.
